The sharp YG6X tip generates extreme heat. Always use a continuous flow of water to cool the bit and prevent it from burning out.
Let the sharp spear head do the cutting. Excessive downward pressure will snap the tip. Drill slowly and let the tool do the work.
Start drilling at a low speed to create a starter divot, then maintain a steady medium speed. High speeds will destroy the bit quickly.
Why did my drill bit burn out, turn blue, or break quickly?
This usually happens due to excessive heat or downward pressure. Our YG6X carbide tips are highly sharpened for precision but can overheat. You MUST use continuous water cooling while drilling. Apply light pressure and let the sharp tip do the work.
Can I use these bits to drill into Porcelain Tile or Concrete?
No. These spear head bits are specifically designed for glass, mirrors, ceramic tile, wood, and plastic. Using them on high-hardness porcelain tile, concrete, masonry, or tempered glass will instantly dull or shatter the tip.
Will this fit my impact driver? Why is the hex shank longer than others?
Yes! They feature a 1/4" quick-change hex shank fitting all impact drivers and standard drills. We upgraded to an extended shank design to provide maximum grip inside the chuck, ensuring higher concentricity and zero wobble for precise, clean holes.
Should I use the "Hammer" setting on my drill for faster cutting?
Absolutely NOT. You must strictly use the standard rotary (drilling) mode. Any hammer or impact action will immediately shatter the tungsten carbide tip and crack your delicate glass or tile.
How do I prevent large bits (1/4" to 1/2") from burning out quickly?
Use the "peck drilling" method! Since large solid bits lack flutes, frequently lift the bit out of the hole for a second. This lets cooling water flush out trapped dust and cool the YG6X tip, preventing instant burnout and prolonging life.
