The steel shaft is machined and forged from premium steel, so it is strong enough to to transfer steering torque.
The steering shaft only can be applied to 3/4” DD U joints.
The term DD/double D refers to the shape of the shaft, which resembles two flat sides parallel to each other.
The fully machined double D shaft can easily be cut to an exact length for your steering system. So machining allowance is necessary at first, then make a finish cut to the exact length needed.
To strengthen the connection of a double D style joint to the shaft, you can drill a dimple on the steering shaft for the set screw to seat.
